The fate of my blog depends on chmod

I am haveing issues with smashlabs server it seems that it's first impulse is to protect every file created on it. While that is great but that doesn't makeing posts via blogger fun since I have to putty into the system and chmod each file to be read to the world.... And this is a test to test if I really do.
